Hormonal Influences on Womens Lives - Naturopathic Wellness and Allergy Clinic

Hormones are chemicals that are produced by glands in the endocrine system. Hormonal imbalances occur when there is too much or too little of a hormone in the bloodstream. Because of their essential role in the body, even small hormonal imbalances can cause side effects throughout the body.

Think of hormones like a cake recipe. Too much or too little of any one ingredient affects the final product.

At the Naturopathic and Allergy Clinic, we treat hormonal issues using bioidentical hormones.

We treat Women’s Health Issues concerning:

  • Estrogen dominance
  • Hair Loss
  • Heavy periods
  • Infertility
  • Low libido or sex drive
  • Osteoporosis
  • Painful periods
  • PCOS
  • PMS
  • Peri-menopause & menopause (hot flashes, irregular periods, brain fog, mood swings)
  • Urine incontinence

Treating the Cause:

Most hormones can be detected in the blood, urine and saliva. Some doctors would prefer one over the other. We test for the thyroid’s core hormones including but are not limited to TSH, T3, T4, TPO, reverse T3. We also test gender specific hormones such as FSH, LH, estrogen, testosterone, DHEA and cortisol levels.

Levels of most hormones decrease with aging or health complications. Women face decreasing amounts of estrogen around the age of 50, while men face testosterone insufficiency over the age of 40.

We at the Naturopathic and Allergy Clinic evaluate physical symptoms, medication and age, which are vital in assessing hormonal levels and their treatments.
